Yes, Mildura definitely deserves BETTER than this style of campaign and we will not tolerate it!
Follows on from Shonky Politics National Party Style: Part 1
So after being ignited by the NPA flier in my letterbox, and posting to social media, I decided it would bear more weight if I researched the lies and the so-called ‘proof.’ Most of the proof of claims on this flier (where it exists) is comprised of links to Hansard! Wonderful! Like reading Hansard do you? I reckon most people wouldn’t and don’t. But, we nerds exist – so here we go! There are more lies on the website – link at bottom of post – but prefer you not to share the web link as some people will grab onto it without analysis- just view to confirm what I am saying.
LIE NUMBER 1: “More often than not voted with the Labor Party” (from the set up website – link at end of post)
(No link or any statistics supplied with this statement – guess you have to want to believe it, right? Worth remembering though that when she was voted in she won AGAINST a Labor candidate – just sayin’!
LIE NUMBER 2: “Ali Cupper supports drug injecting rooms next to schools”
the link takes you to Hansard 14/12/2017 on the third reading of the bill MEDICALLY SUPERVISED INJECTING CENTRE BILL 2017. The speakers were the current Minister for Health (LibNP), who declined support, and the Greens member who supported the bill. Ali Cupper was not elected until November 2018, and had no input in this 2017 Liberal-National government.
Just to reiterate, Ali Cupper was NOT in parliament in 2017, and therefore could not speak or vote on this issue!!
Here’s the NPA’s so-called proof from their own flier: DRUGS, POISONS AND CONTROLLEDSUBSTANCES AMENDMENT(MEDICALLY SUPERVISED INJECTING CENTRE) BILL 2017 https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/images/stories/daily-hansard/Council_2017/Council_Daily_Extract_Thursday_14_December_2017_from_Book_22.pdf
LIE NUMBER 3: “Supported Labor’s unprecedented Covid-19 related power grab”
Once again, Ali was not listed as a speaker that day and there is no record in Hansard to that effect. How this ‘proves’ her role in a power grab? Well you tell me! Here’s the link to the so-called proof https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/images/stories/daily-hansard/Council_2020/Legislative_Council_2020-09-01.pdf
LIE NUMBER 4: “Backed Labor’s disgraceful attacks on the CFA and its volunteers”
There is a letter on page 2189 of Hansard on June 20, 2019, which related to a discussion about penalties for those who deliberately lit fires – but once again, Ali Cupper did not speak on this issue, though several others did. Here’s the link to the Hansard page: you will have to scroll down to page 2189 https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/images/stories/daily-hansard/Council_2019/Legislative_Council_2019-06-20.pdf
LIE NUMBER 5: “Voted to legalise public drunkenness and limited police powers”
At last we have a reference in Hansard where Ali DID actually speak, but NOT to support the above, but how best to support victims of FAMILY VIOLENCE, where she cited the case of Kim O’Reilly and her partner,a football player who beat her until she blacked out!!
Here’s the link, scroll down page 27, Hansard February 4, 2021 https://beta.parliament.vic.gov.au/globalassets/hansard2/pim/dailypdf/legislative-assembly/20210204/hansard-2145855009-8745-20210204.pdf

Thank you Diane! Great research and fact checking!
Who’d have thought the LNP was capable of lies! Webster is caught in a position where she can either distance herself from her (city-centric) Victorian branch and her party’s antics, risking their ostracism and reduced support in their already challenged position. Or she can keep quiet about it, which is accepting it as a member of her party.
But Webster has her own problems. On the one hand she’s claiming to #fightformallee, but she’s voted with the National Party on every occasion which have not benefitted Mallee at all, such as reducing university funding. Either National Party policies are finely in tune with the Mallee, or she’s just a talking head for the LNP with absolutely zero interest in meaningful change. Look past the media and social media platitudes and see what she actually votes for. It’s eye-opening and eye-watering!
