Indigenous Voice to Australian Parliament : Yes or No?

When I cast about and view all the misinformation and furphys about the vote on the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, it becomes somewhat crazy-making.  People constantly bang on about “not knowing enough”, or flog the bullet point “there is not enough detail”.   The former may be true for that particular person, but the latter is not –  for anyone.

When I view all the sources available, it only reinforces my view that people either do not have the access to information which has been available for a long time, or have just not sought it out and read it, but rather relied on it being delivered to them.  The groundwork has been done, let’s honour it by at least reading it, and not continuing to claim that ‘there is not enough detail’!

So, here is my offering:

  • This is the referendum question as it will be set out on the voting paper: “A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?”   https://aec.gov.au/referendums/
  • What is the Voice, and how will it be structured?  Available here in  https://voice.gov.au/resources/indigenous-voice-co-design-process-final-report.  If you  don’t read this document in particular, you have no claim to being uninformed, or not having ‘enough detail’.
