Beating the Winter Blues

Winter Blue, made with yarns from Linda P – T

It’s been another cold Mallee winter this year, and I un derstand why folks talk about the winter ‘blues’.  I think we all get that to some degree, but we crafty people have a significant advantage, in that we are well able to keep ourselves occupied and invigorated while hunkering down in our caves through the chilly hours.

For me, of course, it’s Textiles, in just about any form!  Digging through my collection of yarns, fabrics, beads and threads – there is no end of creative stimulation.  And in typical Mallee fashion there is still plenty of winter sunshine to allow activities to continue in the garden for at least a few hours daily!

This year, quilt making has taken a back seat to my current re-ignited passion for crochet and knitting, as Yarn Lovers’ Club shows.  My latest creation was triggered by the donation of some blue yarns, and although blue is not a colour I work with often, (I prefer the warmer colours), once I got started with these gorgeous yarns, I was totally engaged, and now keen to add to the Blue collection!
